PMK candidate gets threats

M. Subramani (44), the Pattali Makkal Katchi’s candidate in Tirupur North constituency, has reportedly received threats over phone on Sunday.

The caller had reportedly asked him to face severe consequences if he did not quit the party. Mr. Subramani has lodged a complaint with 15 Velampalayam police on Sunday late evening. When contacted, Mr. Subramani told The Hindu that he got three calls from a particular number on Sunday in which the caller had asked him to quit the party by 5 p.m. on Sunday.

“The caller told me that if I did not quit the party, my family will have to face the consequences,” he said.

Meanwhile, the sources in police said that the efforts were now on to trace the caller. The accused was said to have made the calls from Salem district, according to the cell phone tower location.
