A plea has been made to halt the recently introduced Erode – Chennai Egmore day time special train via Salem, Attur, Vridhachalam at Ayodhyapattanam Railway Station. The Southern Railway introduced the special train on September 23.

Vaithilingam, former member of the Southern Railway Users Consultative Committee, in a memorandum to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said

Ayodhyapattanam railway station has not been listed for halt and this has deprived a large number of people living in the villages direct day time train facility to Chennai.

Moreover, Ayodhyapattanam and the surrounding areas accounted for many mini industries and yarn mills. The copy of the memorandum has been forwarded to Railway Board; General Manager, Southern Railway; and Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Railway Division.
