A. G. Perarivalan, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, underwent general medical check-up at the Government Vellore Medical College Hospital (GVMCH), Adukkamparai, on Monday.

Doctors said he underwent screening at the departments of orthopaedics and urology. Perarivalan’s lawyer said that he has also undergone an eye check-up at the hospital.

“He has been suffering from refractive errors, and therefore, underwent eye screening at the GH. Doctors have already asked him to take care of his diet and avoid consuming protein-rich food. He has been suffering from blood pressure, knee pain and stress,” he added. He added that doctors had advised him to take food rich in fibre, vegetables and fruits.
