“Modi committed to fulfilling Kalam’s vision”

Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was committed to fulfilling the visions of former president APJ Abdul Kalam.

In his address after laying the foundation stone for “Dr APJ Abdul Kalam National Memorial” at his burial site at Pei Karumbu near here on Wednesday, he said after successfully advancing the cause of defence might of the country,

Kalam was equally passionate about our country emerging as a leading economic power.

Kalam came out with the idea of Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) when he was the president and “our government is carrying forward his vision, he said.

Like Kalam, Mr. Modi was thinking of making the nation economically strong and striving for the same day and night. The vision of Mr. Modi was federal cooperation, where the Centre and States worked in tandem, he said.

The memorial of Kalam was also an example of this vision, where Union and State governments were working together to build the memorial, Mr. Naidu added.
