MLA admitted to hospital

CPI(M) MLA K. Balakrishnan, who represents the Chidambaram Assembly constituency, was admitted to the Rajah Muthiah Medical College and Hospital at Chidambaram here after he complained of uneasiness while participating in the All-India strike on Wednesday.

Police sources said Mr. Balakrishnan, along with a large number of cadre, staged a dharna in front of the railway station after the police prevented them from entering the station.

When Mr. Balakrishnan refused to call off his protest, the police forcibly arrested and removed him.

Mr. Balakrishnan complained of uneasiness and he was taken to the Chidambaram Government General Hospital and was later referred to the Rajah Muthiah Medical College and Hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
