Minister inaugurates anganwadi centres

Minister for Information and Publicity C. Raju inaugurated the newly built anganwadi centres at K. Duraisamypuram and K. Venkateswarapuram in Kayathar panchayat union on Saturday in the presence of Collector M. Ravikumar.

According to a statement, these infrastructural facilities were established at a cost of Rs. 11.34 lakh through development funds allotted to Kovilpatti constituency. After inaugurating the centres, the Minister said a series of development projects were being carried out to benefit people from all walks of life. Over the last five years, 25 anganwadi centres, bus shelters, roads, fair price shops and new primary health centres have been established.

Moreover, the much expected second drinking water pipeline project work was in progress, he said and added that the project was expected to be completed soon. He also appealed to the Highways Department to expedite the work on widening the Ettayapuram- Kovilpatti road. Integrated Child Development Services Officer Fathima, Cooperative Agriculture Farm Producers President Manickaraja, Revenue Department officials and local body representatives were present.
