Man robbed of Rs. 4 lakh

An unidentified gang honey trapped a sweet seller on the Salem – Ulundurpet National Highway, near Attur, and robbed him of Rs. 4 lakh early on Saturday.

The police said that Murugesan (37) of Chinnasalem in Villupuram district, who used to sell sweets in his vehicle was on his way to Tirupur along with his assistant Prasad (25) of Karnataka.

While nearing a marriage hall at Vinayagapuram, a gang, including a woman, stopped the vehicle. Murugesan lodged a police complaint. The police said that Murugesan was giving contradictory statements on the amount of money lost. Inquiry is on.
