July 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - Aruppukottai:

A 42-year-old man, M. Muthiah, of Tamaraikulam was found dead with his body highly decomposed in an isolated place near an irrigation tank under A. Mukkulam police station limits on Monday.

Relatives and members of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi staged a road roko on Thoothukudi road in the town demanding to alter the case of suspicious death to murder.

Post-mortem could not be conducted on the body with the family members protesting.

The police said that a bottle of pesticide, a carry bag containing grapes and water packets were found near his body.

He went missing from house since Saturday.

The family members complained that the deceased, in a drunken mood, had shouted against a ruling party person a few days back.

They suspected that the particular ruling party functionary could be behind the death of Muthiah.
