More than 200 lawyers formed a human chain on Dindigul Corporation Office Road here on Tuesday, demanding withdrawal of amendments to Advocates Act by the Madras High Court.

Both men and women lawyers formed the human chain between Periyar statue and clock tower in the city and raised slogans against the Act.

Traffic was closed on this road and the vehicles were diverted through other roads.

The agitation and court boycott have been continuing for the past 41 days.

Routine work in all courts in the district has been completely paralysed.

Earlier, the lawyers took out a rally which started from district court complex and ended at corporation office.

Meanwhile, the lawyers have planned to intensify their stir against the amendments.

Lawyers in all districts have planned to assemble before the High Court in Chennai and stage a demonstration soon.
