Killed in accident

An omni bus cleaner was killed on the spot while three passengers of the bus suffered serious injuries after the bus rammed a brick-laden lorry near Kumarapalayam here in the early hours of Wednesday.

The bus with 42 passengers was plying from Bengaluru to Coimbatore while the lorry was moving towards Kumarapalayam. It is said that one of the wheels of the lorry got punctured and the driver attempted to take left to halt the vehicle while nearing Coundanur Bypass.

However, the bus moving at a high speed rammed the rear side of the lorry in which the lorry was pushed for over 100 metres.

Bus cleaner Karthick (32) of Salem died on the spot while three passengers were admitted to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital. Kumarapalaym police arrived at the spot and cleared the vehicles for traffic to resume.
