Job for murdered Dalit’s father

The Department of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare has issued appointment orders to C. Velusamy, father of Dalit youth Shankar who was murdered at Udumalpet in March, and ‘sanctioned’ pension to Shankar’s wife Kausalya.

Official sources told The Hindu that Mr. Velusamy was appointed as cook in the residential school situated at Perumalputhur.

“He has been sanctioned a basic pay of Rs. 4,800 plus other government allowance,” said the officials.

Ms. Kausalya was sanctioned a monthly pension of Rs. 5,000 plus dearness allowance.
