Claiming that DMK’s election manifesto contains only resolutions which are exactly what the people wanted, the DMK women’s wing secretary Kanimozhi campaigned in the district starting from Vellakoil town and culminated in Tirupur city on Thursday evening.
Stating that the law and order had deteriorated in the State, Ms. Kanimozhi said that around one lakh cases of robbery took place in Tamil Nadu during five years of AIADMK governance. According to her, industrial growth happened during DMK regime because of the conducive investment climate provided by the government headed by M. Karunanidhi.
“But the situation turned topsy-turvy in the last five years with even many of the functional units lost its viability. How will then the educated youth, who studied using loans obtained from banks, can get employment?”, she asked.
Ms. Kanimozhi assured that the DMK alliance, when comes to power, would address the industrial effluent issues in the district. “Many dyeing units are on the verge of closure because of the difficulties faced in meeting the high cost needed for effluent treatment. The party manifesto has promised of addressing that issue too on a priority basis”.
She said that a separate cooperative bank would be set up for the weavers.
She also ridiculed the functioning of the public distribution system during the last five years. “People have been fed up of getting frequent answers from salesmen at ration shops that the commodities were out of stock. When DMK alliance comes back to power, all commodities will be distributed on every day”, she said.
