The Madras High Court has dismissed a petition filed by a woman of Triplicane for a direction to the Chennai Police Commissioner to entrust to another officer the investigation into her complaint over the execution of sale deeds of her property in favour of the wife of the grandson of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
Justice C.T. Selvam passed the order on a petition by B. Bharathi. She submitted that she was the owner of five properties at Velachery and other places. She alleged that on December 21, 2009, her signature was forcibly obtained in three powers of attorney in favour of one J. Sundaramoorthy, uncle of M.K.M. Arivunidhi who is the grandson of Mr. Karunanidhi. Three days later, five sale deeds were executed in favour of Poongodi, Mr. Arivunidhi’s wife. Fearing police complaint, one property at Mylapore was transferred back to the petitioner. She filed a complaint in June 2013. In January this year, the Inspector, City Central Crime Branch informed her that no criminal action was possible as the matter was civil in nature.
Hence, the present plea by Ms. Bharathi.
