Health Mission Director visits eye patients

Darez Ahamed, Director, National Health Mission-Tamil Nadu, visited the patients undergoing treatment at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital (GMKMCH) and the private hospital in the city for the eye infection they had developed after undergoing cataract surgery in the Mettur Government Hospital last week.

Of the 18 people who developed the infection after surgery, four were admitted to the medical college hospital here, and eight to the private eye hospital in the city. The rest were undergoing treatment in Coimbatore.

Dr. Ahamed made enquiries with the ophthalmologists of the Medical College Hospital on the treatment being given and also went through the recovery report. The samples of the culture collected from the affected eyes are being sent for testing.
