Grievances redress meeting

‘PF Near You,’ a grievances redress meeting, will be held at the office of Himanshu Kumar, Regional PF Commissioner-II, Sub-Regional Office, Sree Jayalakshmi Plaza, Swarnapuri, Salem, on August 10. Grievances can be sent to sro.salem@epfindia.gov.in.

Youth held

The police have arrested, M. Dinesh (25) of Puliyampatti, who climbed a rock near Arthanareeswarar Temple in Tiruchengodu and threatened to commit suicide. He wanted the ban on jallikattu removed.

Man held

The police have arrested Ramasamy of Veeraganur for charging exorbitant rates as interest for money lent to Kala (40) of Gangavalli.

She had pledged her land documents to obtain Rs. 1.30 lakh from him in 2010. She paid Rs. 6.30 lakh recently and asked him to hand over the documents. But he again asked her to pay Rs. 2 lakh. Though she filed a complaint with the police, no action was taken against him. She approached the DIG, Salem Range, who asked the Attur DSP to conduct an inquiry. A case was registered under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, 2003 against Ramasamy.
