Gram sabha meetings will be held in all the village panchayats in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam districts on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti day on Friday. District administrations have called upon the public in the villages to attend the gram sabha meetings in their panchayat and discuss among other things selection of work under the 14th Finance Commission grants, panchayat audit, rural water supply, preventing vector-borne diseases, and awareness on preventing Foot-and-Mouth Disease among cattle.
There are 589 panchayats in Thanjavur district, 430 in Tiruvarur, and 434 panchayats in Nagapattinam district.
