A certificate of appreciation was presented to 412 government employees at the Republic Day celebrations organised in Kancheepuram on Tuesday for their work during the recent floods.

District Collector R. Gajalakshmi said the employees had demonstrated dedicated and selfless service while carrying out rescue and relief operations during the rains and the subsequent floods in the district.

M. Dulsimathi and P. Suryavarma, who took part in the national-level meet representing Tamil Nadu that secured a gold in badminton and bronze in rural boxing events respectively, were also honoured on the occasion.

Earlier, the Collector inspected the guard of honour presented by the Kancheepuram Police District contingent.
