The headmasters of the government and government aided high and higher secondary schools that secured cent per cent results in the SSLC and Plus Two public examinations were felicitated by the School Education Department at a function held in the city recently.

District Collector V. Sampath honoured the headmasters and handed over commendation certificates to them, in the presence of Balamurugan, Joint Director of School Education, and A. Gnanagowri, Chief Education Officer.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Balamurugan urged the teachers to teach after understanding the capability of students.

He said that the coaching given to the students in Standards VI to VIII will reflect in SSLC and Plus Two public examinations’ results. The teachers should leave no stone unturned to impart effective coaching to the students of Standards VI to VIII, which will enable the schools in achieving hundred per cent results in the public examinations.

Mr. Balamurugan said that the teachers employed with the government schools across the State are well qualified and it will not be a difficult task for them to increase the pass percentage in their respective schools.

Referring to Erode district topping the list in the public examinations, he urged the teachers of Salem district to emulate them for increasing the pass percentage and improve Salem’s ranking from the present 19.

Achieving hundred per cent pass percentage is not a difficult task, Mr. Balamurugan said adding that teaching two one mark questions every day will enable the students to be thorough with 400 one mark questions at the end of the academic year. He said that the school education department will monitor the performance of the teachers engaging Standards VI – VIII from the month of August.

Action will be initiated against the teachers who are lacking, he said.
