Ganja seized from couple

Anupparpalayam police arrested R. Eswaran (46) and his wife Subbulakshmi (36) on charges of possessing ganja during raids conducted on Sunday and Monday.

Police sources said 2.2 kg of ganja was seized from the couple. Further, officials of Prohibition Enforcement Wing arrested a 40-year-old man who runs a petty shop at Vavipalayam for allegedly allowing people to drink liquor on the shop floor. He was later released on bail.

Drowns

A man was allegedly drowned while taking bath in the water that had been stagnant in a quarry at Veliyangadu in the city, on Monday. Some of the people in the vicinity had reportedly seen him getting trapped in the current. Search for the body was on.
