The Adirampattinam police in Thanjavur district have arrested four youths on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl on Sunday.
The victim, class 9 student belonging to the Chetty Thoppu area near Adirampattinam in Thanjavur district was walking alone through a wooded area in the vicinity when the culprits forcibly carted her away and sexually assaulted her on August 17. The grief-stricken girl reported the matter to her mother who promptly filed a complaint with the police on Sunday.
Police picked up R. Vignesh (21), N. Vignesh (20), Gopal (20), all from Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Foreshore Estate, Chennai, as also Manickaraj (20) of Adirampattinam and following their confession, they were produced before the Pattukkottai Judicial Magistrate who remanded them in judicial custody. The four were then lodged in the Central Prisons, Tiruchi.
