A forum of farmers has planned to meet Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin to impress upon them the need to waive all loans of farmers without any distinction and to stress the need for getting Cauvery waters from Karnataka once the reservoirs there start getting water.

At a meeting here on Sunday, Coordinator of the forum P.R. Pandian said they would seek an appointment to meet the Chief Minister and would stay put in Chennai till they get to meet her.

Despite the government order on waiver of cooperative loans availed by small and marginal farmers, the modalities had not been worked out yet. Mr. Pandian wanted the State government to undertake and write off all loans taken by farmers from all lending institutions without any distinction taking into account the plight of farmers.
