The Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangangalin Peravai demanded the railway authorities to extend Trichy-Tirunelveli Inter-City Express upto Thiruvananthapuram and Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Maveli Express upto Kanyakumari via Nagercoil. In a release issued here on Friday, Karungal R. George, District President of the Perevai said that the traders travel between Madurai, Kovilpatti, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli and Kottar in Nagercoil for procuring materials. The materials from various markets were sent to Kerala from Nagercoil

Due to the absence of a day-time train between Madurai and Kanyakumari and no direct train to northern Kerala from Nagercoil the traders are forced to depend on road transport. Considering the hardship of traders, the Peravai appealed to the railway authorities and the Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan to åextend the two trains via Nagercoil, Mr. George said.
