Encroachments removed

The Dindigul Corporation officials removed decades-old encroachments within the Kamarajar Central bus stand here on Thursday.

A team, comprising revenue inspectors and sanitation inspectors, with the help of police, removed all platform shops on Madurai and Tiruchi bays and also evicted unauthorised structures blocking open area on Natham bay inside the bus stand. Stock of vendors, who encroached the platforms, were also seized. Shop keepers were allowed to use one and half foot width of the platform before their shops to keep their items for sale.
