Senior DMK leader Durai Murugan filed his nomination to contest from the Katpadi constituency on Wednesday.
The day saw as many as 62 candidates filing their nominations to contest in the May 16 Assembly elections in Vellore district.
The former DMK Minister filed his nomination at the Katpadi taluk office.
Affidavit
In the affidavit, Mr. Durai Murugan stated that he and his wife had movable assets worth Rs. 57,08,425 and Rs. 1,90,97,176 respectively.
He stated that the current market value of immovable assets, including agricultural lands and commercial buildings, owned by him and his wife was Rs. 6,57,30,800 and Rs. 20,73,44,300 respectively.
Ten women and eight independents were among those who filed their nominations in the district.
The following is the break-up of the number of nominations received (constituency-wise): Arakkonam – 6, Sholinghur – 6, Katpadi – 3, Ranipet – 4, Arcot – 5, Vellore – 5, Anaicut – 2, Kilvaithanankuppam – 4, Gudiyatham – 4, Vaniyambadi – 4, Ambur – 7, Jolarpet – 6 and Tirupattur – 6.
