Police are on the lookout for a life convict who went underground after being released on parole a couple of days ago.

Police said K. Ashok alias Ashok Kutti (28) of Keezha Pudhur near Sivagiri was awarded life imprisonment in a murder case and had been lodged in the Palayamkottai Central Prison. As his mother was reportedly terminally ill, Ashok was released on parole last Friday (on May 20) to visit his ailing mother. As Ashok failed to return to the prison after the parole ended on Sunday (May 22), prison authorities filed a complaint with Sivagiri police. Further investigations are on.
