After a brief commotion, the relatives of the two workers, who were killed in an accident at NLC Tamil Nadu Power Limited (NTPL) plant on Tuesday, agreed to receive the bodies as the contractor agreed to give adequate compensation.
When workers S. Muthukumar (25) of Ambedkar Nagar and S. Anand (19) of Korampallam were working on a platform about 40 metres above the ground, they fell down from the platform and died on the spot.
One A. Maria Estharin (27), who managed to stay on the platform, suffered severe injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit of Tuticorin Government Medical College Hospital.
The relatives of the deceased and a few contract labourers gathered in front of the hospital on Wednesday morning and made it clear that they would accept the bodies only if their families were adequately compensated.
