Computerisation of fair price shops

All 581 fair price shops in the district will be computerised, according to the Senior Collector Kakarla Usha.

Distributing point of sale instruments to staff members here on Tuesday, she said all ration cards, details of family members, family size and contact number of heads of families would be collected as part of computerisation. It would eliminate duplicate ration cards. They could get information on supply of commodities and stock position on a daily basis. Moreover, they would be sent details on supply of commodities through SMS.

She said a private company had given training to the employees of fair price shops in Karur, Kulithalai, Manmangalam, Aravakurichi taluks.
