BJP to seek divine help for its victory

April 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - Ramanathapuram:

Senior Bhratiya Janata Party leader and Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan and party general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao, who is in-charge of party affairs in Tamil Nadu, would perform a special puja at Navapashnam Temple Devipattinam near here for the party’s victory in the May 16 Assembly elections.

The two leaders would commence electioneering by addressing a public meeting here on April 9 after performing a special puja and offering worship at the temple, dedicated to nine planetary deities, K. Muraleedharan, BJP district president, told reporters here on Wednesday. The special puja was aimed at seeking divine intervention to help the BJP conquer the two Dravidian parties, he said. As legend has it, Lord Rama installed the deities and offered Navagraha puja before leaving for Sri Lanka to conquer Ravana, he said. The party would field candidates in all the four Assembly constituencies in the district, he added.
