Abandoned infant handed over to NGO

A newborn boy, who was found abandoned in Samundipuram village near Gudiyatham recently, was handed over to an NGO on Thursday.

The newborn was found abandoned at a field used to dry grains at the village on July 17. Passers-by, on hearing the cry of a baby rescued him and informed the Gudiyatham Taluk police.

The baby was admitted to the Government Hospital at Gudiyatham for first aid, and referred to the Government Vellore Medical College Hospital, Adukkamparai, for treatment.

On Thursday, district officials handed over the baby to SRDPS, a licensed adoption agency at Tirupattur, a press release said. — Staff Reporter
