DINDIGUL: Two persons were killed on the spot and three others injured when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a van coming in the opposite side of the down lane of National Highway 7 near Vadamadurai in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased were Balamurugan (33) of Kodangipatti in Bodi block and Kannan of Palanichetitipatti in Theni district.
The injured – Mani (43), Prabhu (21) and Kasiviswanathan of Theni – were admitted to Dindigul Government Hospital for treatment. They were going to Chennai from Theni.
The van was coming in the opposite side of the down lane in search of another van, which got stuck owing to a technical fault on the highway, to transfer the goods from it. The car, proceeding in the down lane, lost control and dashed against it, police said.
