Man dies during bull race near Vellore

A 27-year-old man collapsed after being caught in a crowd during eruthu vidum vizha conducted at Melmayil on Sunday.

According to police, Elangovan, a resident of Mariamman Koil Street, Mudinampattu in Katpadi taluk, had gone to see the bull race at Melmayil. He fainted after he was caught in the crowd. The police said the event drew a large crowd.

Mr. Elangovan was immediately taken to the first aid room that was set up by the Health Department at the venue, but to no avail. The K.V. Kuppam police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Police said two persons, who sustained injuries after being attacked by bulls, were referred to the Government Hospital, Gudiyatham, while around 10 persons were treated by the medical team on the spot for minor injuries such as abrasions.
