Fall in number of voters in Kanniyakumari district

NAGERCOIL: The summary electoral roll of Kanniyakumari district, prepared after a special summary revision for 2017, was released by Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan here on Thursday.

It was received by Nagercoil Revenue Divisional Officer A. Rajkumar, in the presence of representatives of political parties at the Collectorate.

A total of 36,156 new voters had been included in the voters’ list and 39,793 names had been removed.

As per the summary electoral roll, the total number of voters had come down to 15,04,246 – Men: 7,52,574, Women: 7,51,548 and Others: 124 – from 15,07,886 as on September 1, 2016.

Mr. Chavan said multi-colour Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to the new voters would be issued on National Voters’ Day (January 25) by Booth-Level Officers concerned.

District Revenue Officer S. Elango and Tahsildars were present on the occasion.
