65-year-old man drowns in river

A 65-year-old tea shop owner, R. Thomas of North Street in Marthandam, drowned in Tamirabharani river in Gnaramvilai village on Saturday.

According to police, Thomas was taking bath in the river when he slipped into deep waters and drowned. Based on a complaint lodged by his wife T. Kunjammal, Marthandam police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The body was handed over to the family members after the post-mortem done at Kuzhithurai Government Hospital. Marthandam police have registered a case of an unnatural death.
