Sudarshan Seneviratne has been appointed Sri Lanka’s new high commissioner to India, the External Affairs Ministry said here on Friday. Mr. Seneviratne will succeed Prasad Kariyawasam who has been moved to Washington. Kariyawasam replaces Jaliya Wickremasuriya.
A political appointee to the foreign service, Mr. Seneviratne headed the Department of Archaeology at the University of Peradeniya and headed the Central Cultural Fund, which is responsible for conservation of Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage.
Mr. Seneviratne’s appointment is subject to approval by the Parliament’s committee on high positions, the Ministry said. — PTI
