Take govt. to task, Rahul tells PCC chiefs

February 06, 2016 01:37 am | Updated September 02, 2016 12:21 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Friday had a message for the party’s State heads—that they should adopt an “aggressive” stance toward the Narendra Modi government and keep a tab on the policies that were implemented during the UPA rule.

In an unprecedented meeting at the party headquarters, Mr. Gandhi listened to each State president about the implementation of UPA government’s flagship Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).

As Mr. Gandhi came out of the meeting, he launched an attack on the BJP government saying that the low income people are struggling to get by as the new regime has weakened the social responsibility programs that provided some degree of financial relief to them. “We will fight for farmers, labourers, small businessmen and entrepreneurs,” Mr. Gandhi said.
