A 26-year-old married woman was allegedly strangled to death by her suspected paramour in Jagriti Vihar area here.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim identified as Sangeeta was having an affair with the accused Gaurav Thakur (30) for the past 8 years.

Late on Monday night, the victim met Thakur on the terrace of her house where they had a heated argument. The accused then strangled Sangeeta to death, police said.

Thakur informed his friend Rajkumar of the incident and fled from the spot. The friend later informed the police about the murder.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and a hunt has been launched to nab the accused, they said.

Apparently, Sangeeta’s parents had married her off despite her affair. Since her husnabd worked in Mumbai, Sangeeta started living at her parent’s home with her four-year-old son.

The accused had also rented an adjoining flat in the same area, police added. - PTI
