Soldier’s death condoled

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has expressed grief over the death of Garhwal Rifle soldier Anup Kumar Thapa, killed in an exchange of fire during an infiltration bid by militants in Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Mr Rawat prayed for the departed soul and extended condolences to the bereaved family, a press release stated.

Thapa, a resident of Mohabewala, died during an encounter with militants in Gugladhar region of the district.

Uttarakhand is a land of brave hearts and Thapa has made the State proud, he said while assuring assistance to the family of the deceased. - PTI
