OHRC to decide complaint against Pipili toll plaza

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has transferred a complaint case against the National Highway Authority of India to be adjudicated by the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC). Advocate Nishikant Mishra had filed the case before the NHRC alleging that NHAI has set up a toll plaza at Pipili on Bhubaneswar-Puri road encroaching both government and private land and causing inconvenience like water-logging and blocking canals meant for irrigation.

“Under section 13(6) of Protection of Human Rights Act of 1993, the complaint is transmitted to OHRC with a request for disposal of the case in accordance with law,” the NHRC said in its order recently. The toll plaza on the National Highway has come up over an area of eight acres, Mr. Mishra said quoting a report obtained through RTI Act.
