Freelance journalist Malini Subramaniam, who once headed the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Chhattisgarh, was intimidated by a group in Jagdalpur district headquarters of Bastar early on Monday.

“Around 15 to 20 people of the Samajik Ekta Manch [an anti-Maoist group floated by Bastar police boss S.R.P. Kalluri] gathered in front of my house on Sunday evening. They shouted slogans for about half an hour asking me to leave Bastar. They were trying to brand me a Maoist supporter,” Ms. Subramaniam told The Hindu .

“Around 2.30 a.m. [on Monday], I heard a loud noise. In the morning, we saw large stones lying on the porch and my car was damaged,” she claimed.

No one was hurt. The glasses of Ms. Subramaniam’s car were smashed.
