Jogi sidelined in new Chhattisgarh PCC

August 15, 2014 02:03 am | Updated 02:03 am IST - RAIPUR:

The All India Congress Committee has announced the formation of the new Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) under State PCC president Bhupesh Baghel.

The jumbo sized state Congress committee now includes treasurer Ramgopal Agrawal, six vice-presidents, 13 general secretaries and 48 secretaries apart from the 21 member executive committee. The party also appointed new district president's in six districts.

Mr.Baghel dissolved all party units and district bodies in the state on June 19 after the party’s poor performance in last year’s assembly elections and this year’s Lok Sabha polls.

However, former CM and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi alleged that his supporters did not find a place in the new team.

“I had given a few names to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and had marked a copy to Rahul Gandhi. But the list contains none of those names especially the list of treasurer, vice-presidents and general secretaries,” he told reporters.

Newly appointed general secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said, “The new team is the best combination in which all the groups have found representations. All caste, regional and social equations have been taken care of. Every community has been given due and proper representation in the new team.”

According to a congress leader who wished to remain anonymous, the new team definitely has a stamp of Mr. Baghel and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly T.S. Singh Dev.

“Some of Mr.Jogi’s supporters have found place in the new party unit but Mr.Jogi wanted some more of his supporters to be inducted and he is likely to be dissatisfied,” revealed the leader.

However, Mr. Jogi and his wife Renu Jogi have been named as the permanent invitees to the State Congress Committee.
