The Congress Party in Goa on Saturday accused Chief Electoral Officer Keshav Chandra of being hand-in-glove with BJP Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and demanded that he be replaced immediately.

Addressing presspersons at the Congress headquarters in the city, Goa Pradesh Congress spokesperson Durgadas Kamat said the Goa CEO had failed to exert his influence, and that government officials have been breaching Model Code of Conduct with impunity. He said Officer on Special Duty to Power Minister Lyndon Monetiro, had on Friday addressed a press conference of the Goa Vikas Party, regional group in the city and yet no action had been taken by the CEO.

Mr. Kamat also alleged that the CEO had failed to act on complaints lodged by the Congress regarding breach of code of conduct by the Chief Minister on Facebook or officials in the Chief Minister's Office on social media.
