Eight officials suspended

July 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - GURGAON:

Eight officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), including six executive engineers, have been suspended for violation of rules in getting development works worth over Rs.23 crore executed on quotation basis, thus bypassing the accepted e-tendering process. An audit and accounts official of the MCG has also been suspended.

Ordering the suspension, Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain directed that the officers be charge-sheeted under Rule 7 for not giving reply to the explanation sought by the Office of Municipal Commissioner during an inquiry. The Minister had recently ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter and the Municipal Commissioner had found that the tendering process was not adopted and projects worth crores were simply given away.
