Congress serves notice to Ajit Jogi

February 06, 2016 11:51 pm | Updated 11:51 pm IST - RAIPUR:

The Congress’ disciplinary committee has served a notice to senior party leader Ajit Jogi seeking his explanation on the recommendation by the party’s Chhattisgarh unit to expel him from the party for allegedly fixing a bypoll in 2014.

The party’s action came a month after the Chhattisgarh Congress unit suspended his son and MLA Amit Jogi from the party for six years over “leak” of some audio tapes of purported conversation of the Jogis reported by an English newspaper.

Mr. Jogi refused to comment on the notice.

But his son confirmed that his father had been asked about his opinion over the expulsion recommendation by the Chhattisgarh Congress unit.
