The mortal remains of an Army jawan who laid down his life fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir were consigned to flames here on Monday with full military honours.

Placing a wreath on Anup Thapa’s body as it was brought to the jawan’s home in Mohabbewala, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said Thapa has taken forward Uttarakhand’s glorious tradition of making the supreme sacrifice for the sake of the country.

Mr Rawat said the entire State stands by his family.

Raj Bhawan’s protocol officer also placed a wreath on his body on behalf of Governor Krishna Kant Paul.
