Expressing concern over the casualties in clashes between protesters and security forces in the Kashmir Valley, the National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday issued notices to the Centre and the State government.

“It is closely watching the violence in the aftermath of the killing of alleged militant Burhan Wani in an encounter with the security forces on July 8. The Commission has issued notices to the Union Home Secretary and the Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, calling for reports in the matter. It has given two weeks to respond,” said an NHRC statement.
