: Mother, Father, Food, Sleep, Elephant, Truth, Beautiful... thus goes the ‘most favourite’ word of the staff at the Collectorate in Painau where an Akshara Maram (tree of word) was erected on Friday.

The Akshara Maram was put up by the District Information Office as part of the Reading Week observance to find out what word they used the most in their conversation. The staff members wrote their most favourite word in a yellow-coloured blank card with sketch pen and placed them in a box. Later, they were hung on the branches of the special tree. Unlike other functions, the inauguration was done at the end of the programme by District Collector A. Kausigan, who hung a card with the word ‘You’ written on it. He said while delivering duties, the most favourite word should be ‘you.’

He appealed to them to use the most respectable words while dealing with those who come seeking help. The P.N. Panicker Memorial Reading Week celebrations will conclude on Saturday.
