UDF: no compromise on new dam

May 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - IDUKKI:

UDF district chairman S. Asokan and convenor Alex Kozhimala have said that Chief Minster Pinarayi Vijayan’s stand on the Mullaperiyar issue was against the interests of the State, and that it has gone against the common stand taken by all parties in the Assembly that a new dam was needed in place of the century-old structure.

The Chief Minister’s stand that the dam was safe is shrouded in mystery, they said.

The UDF will launch a strong agitation if the Chief Minister goes against the construction of a new dam, they added.
