Railways will launch a special Rajdhani Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) to Kochuveli, on an experimental basis during the Onam season this year.
In a statement, Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, said the train would make its maiden run from Hazrat Nizamuddin (no. 04422) at 5.55 a.m. on August 22 and would reach Kochuveli at 11 a.m. on August 24. Enroute, the train has 26 halts. In the return direction, the train (no. 04421) will leave Kochuveli on August 28 and reached the destination on August 31. In Kerala, the train has 10 halts, Palakkad, Shoranur, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Thiruvalla, Chengannur, Kayamkulam, and Kollam. The train will have one first class air-conditioned coach, four second AC coaches and 10 third AC coaches apart from a pantry car.
Mr. Suresh said that Railways had also given an assurance that the special train would be operated during the Sabarimala season too.
