State to have Silicon Valley-like centres: CM

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said his government would take measures to set up Silicon Valley-like centres in Kerala to boost the information technology sector and discussions are on with experts such as Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan in this regard.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Mr. Vijayan said plans are on to improve infrastructure, for better roads and high-speed trains in the State. Land will be acquired to widen highways, he said adding that adequate compensation and rehabilitation package will be offered to those displaced.

The Chief Minister said his government will work for inclusive development. There will be greater focus on sectors such as agriculture and tourism.

Mr. Vijayan said the State is considering steps to improve the situation in the health sector.
