Reading week fete inaugurated

Public Works Minister G. Sudhakaran has underlined the need to incorporate changes in libraries in tune with the times.

He was inaugurating the district-level reading week celebrations at the P.N.Panicker Memorial LP school at Ambalapuzha on Sunday.

Relevance of reading

Relevance of reading should be discussed at the higher education level. Reading should enable one to develop social conscience. Good reading would show the path to social transformation, he said.

District panchayat president G. Venugopal, Block panchayat president Prajit Karakkal, P.N. Panicker Foundation district president Chunakkara Janardhanan Nair and others spoke. The Minister honoured teachers, Kalathil Chandrasekharan Nair, R.Narayana Pillai and P.Surendranath, for distinguished services.

Prizes were distributed to students, Ajitha Ajikumar, Amrita Vijayan and S.Sreelakshmi, who won contests held in connection with the reading week.
